The plaque was unveiled a little before 4 p.m., in front of the Sainte-Anne stadium.
Previously, by looking up to the sky, Marius Trésor was able to see his name and his portrait on the roof of the stand.
It's official, since this Saturday (January 18), the name of the Valette stadium has been called the Marius Trésor stadium.
The Guadeloupean champion with 65 caps finally accepted this honor from the city after three unsuccessful requests.
It is on this stadium that the Guadeloupean champion with 65 caps took his first steps as a footballer.
A stadium on which he completed thousands of laps with Claudy Chipotel, to whom he paid a vibrant tribute.

Marius Trésor was equal to himself throughout the eponymy ceremony, simple, humble and extremely kind.
The one who left Guadeloupe at the age of 19 did not imagine having such a beautiful and long career:
I left Guadeloupe with lots of dreams, I didn't think it was going to be possible to make them come true. And finally, two years after my arrival in mainland France, I found myself in the France A team and it was the start of a very long adventure.

“A legend”
The son of Marius Trésor, Thierry, was also on the trip to attend the inauguration of the stadium in his father's name. He returned to the fervor surrounding the former player:
He doesn't necessarily realize it, but he is considered a legend. He was the first black West Indian captain of the France team, the first to have broken Roger Marche's selection record. And then as a player and as a man, he was always accessible, remarkably humble and that's what people remember about my father. So I'm not at all surprised by this enthusiasm around him.
A gala match
Many former football glories had made the trip to honor the child of the péyi. The Giresse, Govou, Pirès, Piquionne, Savidan and even Karembeu took to the pitch at the Marius Trésor stadium.
For the captain of the variety club of France, Robert Piresit was important to be there for Marius Trésor:
When Variétés decided to organize this match with the support of Marius Trésor, everyone responded, quite simply because of what it was able to represent. Already of course with the French selection, he has 65 selections so that means that Marius was very gifted, had a lot of talent. The fact that there is the inauguration of its stadium is deserved. There is nothing to say about that. And for us, it was extremely important to be present. The French team is a family, so when there is a player like Marius Trésor who wants to inaugurate a stadium like the one today, you have to be present.
“He showed the way”
Former international Laura Georges was also present on the ground and she was delighted with this recognition:
I'm happy to be there, with the other players, to give strength and consideration to Marius. It was a very big one, he inspired us. And today, it's an honor for me to be asked to come and play. When we're West Indian, people obviously talk to us about Marius. He showed the way.
The party ended with a dinner with all the football friends. A masterstroke for Frabcs Baptiste and his municipal council.
Note that the Bishop of Guadeloupe, Mgr Philippe Guiougou, was also there. He even played with the football stars.
