Jayden Daniels, Commanders shock Lions to advance to NFC title game: Live updates and reaction from NFL divisional round playoffs

The Washington Commanders are going to the NFC Championship Game.

No, I can’t believe I typed that sentence, either.

But Washington, which came into tonight’s game at Ford Field as more than a touchdown underdog to the top-seeded Detroit Lions, put a first-class whipping on the home team en route to a 45-31 win. It is win 14 on the season. It puts the Commanders one win from the Super Bowl.

Jayden Daniels was terrific, as usual, but he had help – from a potent running game between Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler; from Terry McLaurin, who turned a simple screen into a 59-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter, and from a defense that forced five Lions turnovers, including a 40-yard interception return for a score by safety Quan Martin.

The Commanders will play in Philly or Los Angeles next weekend. For a chance at the Super Bowl. Great Googly Moogly.
