the essential
The weekend promises to be sunnier on Saturday than Sunday in Occitania. Maximum temperatures will remain cold. The weather will be gray and cold in the northern half.
Fog, clearings, cold but no rain. The weekend of January 18 and 19 promises to be calm in the sky throughout France with the exception of Corsica. Anticyclonic conditions – not always synonymous with sunshine in winter – will last all weekend.
Saturday January 18
In the Garonne valley, the gray weather will sometimes be stubborn and very slow to dissipate. Elsewhere in our region and in the south of the country, the sky will be clear and sunny. The maximums will be 7°C in Montauban; 8°C in Rodez, Cahors; 9°C in Toulouse, Albi, Agen; 10°C in Castres; 11°C in Tarbes, Auch; 12°C in Carcassonne, Pau, Foix; 13°C in Narbonne.
In the northern half of France, the weather still looks very gray. In the morning, fog banks will be frequent and even icy in the Centre-Val de Loire and the Val de Saône. In the afternoon, these fogs will be more or less slow to dissipate, the sun may make fleeting appearances. On the eastern coast of Corsica, showers will be frequent, locally stormy, with winds of 50 to 70 km/h. Météo France has also placed the two Corsican departments on orange rain-flood alert for the day.
-In the morning, frosts will be widespread, between – 6°C and 8°C in France. In the afternoon, they will range from 2°C to 6°C over the northern two thirds, 8°C to 12°C in the south and from 14°C to 16°C near the Big Blue.
Sunday January 19
In the morning, clearings will be present in Midi-Pyrénées. In Languedoc and Roussillon, the weather is expected to be overcast with a few snowflakes in the Catalan Pyrenees. In the afternoon, clearings will reach the Mediterranean regions. The maximums announced are 7°C in Montauban, Agen; 9°C in Toulouse, Cahors, Castres; 10°C in Tarbes, Auch, Foix, Albi, Rodez; 12°C in Carcassonne; 13°C in Pau; 14°C in Narbonne.
Elsewhere in France, low clouds and fog will remain frequent over the northern half. Near the Atlantic, the sky could clear up, with a slightly more noticeable southeast wind. The weather will be sunny in the mountains. In the South-East, the sky could be quite cloudy with more sustained rain and a strong easterly wind over Corsica. Frosts will still be present in the morning with 0°C to – 4°C. In the afternoon, they will go from 1°C in the Grand Est to 13°C on the Mediterranean coast.
Several additional degrees at the end of next week
Next week, in the first part, the sun will be more present in the South and in the mountains except near the Mediterranean where rain and wind are forecast. Gray weather will persist in the North. Frosts will be less severe. In the second part of the week, clouds and some rain will arrive from the west and temperatures will return above seasonal norms throughout France.
