On October 31, Sirine and Kévin Fournand, adopted from San-Roumis for three years, had the joy of seeing Naël join his big sister Naïa, 5 years old. In somewhat special circumstances since the mother did not have time to reach the hospital. Two and a half months later, the actors of this original birth met again and shared their memories and exchanged gifts.
“I couldn’t get to the car, I was in too much pain”
For the young mother, “we forget everything but it was a little traumatic and brutal”. And for good reason: after a first delivery which had already not lasted, Sirine Fournand gave birth this time three weeks early in thirty-five minutes. “I couldn't get to the car, I was in too much pain,” she remembers.
“It remains rare”
It is therefore in front of her home, hanging on the barrier, that she will be taken care of by the firefighters of Saint-Romain-Lachalm, Serge Decitre, Aymeric Franc and Pierre Marion, under the responsibility of Jean-Pierre Lyonnet. “It remains rare,” explains the latter, who had already had the same experience a few years ago. I've had two births: I must be bad luck… or a guardian angel! »
Faced with this unusual intervention, the firefighters did not hide their joy at having been able to count on the presence of Juliette Souvignet, firefighter in Saint-Pal and incidentally an aspiring doctor, resident in the Saint-Étienne emergency room. “She was great. It was good to see a girl, it reassured me,” recalls Sirine Fournand.
Because in the middle of the night, the atmosphere was not relaxed. “I wasn’t just a little stressed,” admits the father. I called my brother at 4 a.m. We also had to manage the little one and our dogs. I had never smoked so much! »

As for Juliette Souvignet, although she has never experienced or even seen a childbirth, the young woman has not lost her composure. “I thought about all my lessons but it happened naturally. And I had so much adrenaline! When I saw the departure ticket, she remembers, I thought it was another person we were going to shoot down at Firminy. »
Arriving with the parents, she quickly understands that the birth will have to take place on site in the fire truck. “When the SAMU arrived, the head came out! They let me finish the job and the dad was able to cut the cord. It was my best intervention. It was so good,” she confides.
