“The westerly wind strengthens significantly in the second part of the night from Thursday to Friday, blowing in gusts at 90/100 km/h over a large part of the island, 120 to 140 km/h in Balagne and on the ridges , locally 180 km/h towards Cap Corse,” explains the forecaster.

“The wind then turns north to northwest on Friday at daybreak, with violent gusts close to 100/120 km/h, sweeping all the coastal towns, a fairly unusual situation,” adds Météo France.

As a result, 60 departments have been placed on yellow alert for wind, snow, ice and even avalanches.

Friday, storm Dioniso shows up
