The vehicle of Yaël Ménache, National Rally deputy for the fifth constituency of the Somme, was checked by the gendarmerie, on the night of Saturday December 14 to Sunday December 15, 2024.
After a birthday, the elected official was driving in her personal vehicle in Aisne, in the Chauny sector, when the car was stopped by the police for an alcohol test and a check of identity papers and insurance. “I wasn't drivingshe specifies. The MP admits to having been angry with the gendarmes

She admits to having gotten angry during the check : «I got annoyed, I simply said that there were four police officers to fine a driver on a vehicle that is well insured, and that during that time, there are people driving with three grams of alcohol in blood and which risk killing people… ».
An offense which can carry a fine of up to €3,750
As a reminder, putting a land motor vehicle into circulation without having insured it is a offense punishable by a fine which can go up to €3,750. Depending on the circumstances, one or more of the following additional penalties may be applied in addition, via community service.
