A 6th grade student was grabbed by an individual during an orienteering session with her class on December 3 in Ille-et-Vilaine.
The facts date back to December 3, 2024 at the college Théodore-Monod of Vern-sur-Seiche in Ille-et-Vilaine.
While a 6th grade class was doing an orienteering course outside the school, an individual grabbed one of the students to attack her. Aged 11, the teenager was catching a beacon when an individual tried to grab her, reports 20 minutes.
“It only lasted a few seconds”
According to information from 20 minutesthe man allegedly grabbed the girl's arm and grabbed her sweatshirt. Fortunately the teenager struggled and managed to escape by hitting him in the arms.
“She left screaming and warned her friend. It only lasted a few seconds”declared the mother of a student in the class to our colleagues. The man had already tried to approach two other teenage girls in the class during the outdoor sports session. The sports teacher then gathered his students to return to the school and report the incident.
“It’s a little worrying”
An investigation was opened by the local police who questioned several students from the college. They all described an elderly bearded man who was able to be arrested this Thursday, December 12 thanks to testimonies.The man is suspected of having attacked another student during an orienteering race in 2023: “It’s a little worrying”confided a source close to the matter. Especially since at the time of the incident, the college had decided to suspend the race only for this class.
The parents of the students only received an email informing them of a “incident” and the cancellation of orienteering sessions but only for 6th grade classes: “We have the impression that the college doesn’t want this to get out, that they want to put the handkerchief on it”the mother of a student testified to our colleagues.
