Coupe de France: “We are going to transfer them 13,000 euros even though they have millions of budget”… The anger of the Drancy club towards FC Nantes

If FC shone on the field by easily winning against (4-0) this Saturday, December 21 as part of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de , the attitude of its leaders was very criticized after a controversial decision.

Seeing the Canaries make a guard of honor for the Drancéens and their striker Matthis Abline (author of a double) offering his jersey to one of his opponents, we thought that the meeting between Nantes and Drancy had ended a beautiful way. But off the field, the situation was completely different.

According to The Parisianthe Nantes leaders have in fact chosen not to leave their 13,000 euros in ticket revenue to their opponent of the day, betraying one of the traditions of the Coupe de France. A decision which greatly displeased Alain Meye, president of Drancy: “We are going to transfer 13,000 euros to Nantes residents while the club has a budget of several tens of millions of euros”, he regretted.

This choice is all the more damaging for the National 3 resident as this match in the 32nd finals of the French Cup cost him very dearly: “The trip to the Bauer stadium and all the expenses incurred will leave us with a hole of 40,000 euros we will probably have to pay a large protective net to the Red Star manager because the Ultras Nantais burned him after the meeting” explained Alain Meye to Le Parisien.

“There was no human contact with the Nantes leaders”

Beyond the financial aspect, it is the attitude of those responsible for FC Nantes which displeased the president of the JAD: “The players made us a guard of honor and I was able to greet Antoine Kombouaré (l 'coach) but there was no human contact with the Nantes leaders. I was told that President Waldemar Kita was there but he never came to see us. […] His attitude is petty.”

For his part, the general director of FC Nantes Frank Kita quickly responded: “We had decided that we would remove our travel, bus and hotel costs from our share of revenue. And if there had been a balance on this part, we would have left it at the club But this part did not even pay half of our costs.

Not sure that this argument is understandable for the Drancy club, which will be largely in deficit at the end of this 32e final of the Coupe de France, despite the presence of 3,400 spectators in the stands and all the exposure that such a match offers to amateur clubs.
