Snow arrived in the middle of a storm in eastern France this Saturday. In Yonne, Burgundy and even the Vosges, drivers were surprised by this rather rare snow storm, transforming the rainy landscape into a white curtain.
“A snow storm occurred between Burgundy and Seine-et-Marne this afternoon. With the drop in temperature as the grain passed (isothermal phenomenon), the snow temporarily covered the roadway of the A5 motorway,” wrote La Chaîne Météo sur X, taking up the video of a motorist. The latter was surprised by the weather. “In a few moments everything turned white even though it was 7 degrees! “.
Météo Express also reported this phenomenon, in Epinal, with a mixture of hail and snow. At around 400 meters above sea level, the snow holds well to the ground.
This “Christmas miracle” still remains threatening. Since this morning, Météo-France has warned of this “remarkable” snowy episode which placed Ain, Savoie, Haute-Savoie and Isère on orange snow-ice alert on Sunday and Monday, but also avalanches for three of these departments, while the winds blow strongly in the northwest of the country. The meteorological organization calls for vigilance, especially from motorists.
