Laura Smet told Paris Match that Jalil Lespert's biopic project dedicated to Johnny Hallyday was no longer relevant.
In the end, there will only be one left. While two biopic projects devoted to Taulier had been in the pipeline for some time, one of them fell through. This is what Laura Smet revealed during an interview with Paris Match, revealed Thursday December 5.
“There is only one left, Jalil Lespert's film will not be made,” the daughter of Johnny Hallyday, who died on December 5, 2017, revealed to our colleagues.
Called “That I love you”, the feature film by Jalil Lespert, who was in a relationship with the widow of Johnny Hallyday between 2020 and 2023, was announced last May, on the sidelines of the Cannes festival. He had to return to the love story between the rocker and Laeticia, and their meeting in 1995, a difficult period for the interpreter of “Light the fire”. The name of Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts had also been announced to play the role of Johnny Hallyday on screen.
The biopic of Cédric Jimenez alone in the race
Obviously ancient history since according to Laura Smet, only the biopic directed by Cédric Jimenez, to whom we owe the feature film “Bac Nord”, remains current. “There is only that of Cédric Jimenez with Raphaël Quenard,” confided the forty-year-old, revealing also that the director had “called him to discuss it. So we’re going to see each other…”.
Expected in theaters in 2027, on the occasion of ten years since the disappearance of Taulier, this biopic project has been dubbed by Laeticia Hallyday. Last June, the latter also promised “a film worthy of the rocker and the man that (she) loved madly, sometimes in pain, for 23 years”. A role which will be played by Raphaël Quenard, of whom Laeticia Hallyday immediately thought after her performance in Quentin Dupieux's film “Yannick”. This “official” feature film does not yet have a title.
