It is a well-established commercial tradition in the United States that eventually crossed the Atlantic. According to a study by the Enov institute, in 2023, two out of three French people (67%) made purchases during Black Friday. That is 15 points more than in 2020. If, officially, the kickoff of this 2024 edition is given this Friday, November 29, in practice, a good number of traders have already launched hostilities.
To help you find your way through the jungle of good deals, we have selected a few products with attractive value for money. Screens, audio, smartphones… there is something for all tastes and all budgets.
Household appliances in majesty
It should be the star of kitchens this winter and therefore of the commercial operation of the year: the “airfryer”, or the air fryer in good French. Depending on the space and the number of mouths to feed, there are models with one tray, or two one above the other to cook meat/fish and starchy foods/vegetables in one batch.
The Ninja Double Stack XL – whose price is reduced by 70 euros, or 199 euros on the site – convinced us on a daily basis to replace a microwave – or even an oven – and cook with less fat and without effort. To get started, the Xiaomi Smart Air Fryer 6.5L finds the right price at 64 euros. Another tested and validated option, the Sharp 5.5 L model, at 100 euros at Cdiscount.
If you haven't given in to the sirens of robot vacuum cleaners and are looking for a cordless stick vacuum cleaner, weigh your options carefully. Dyson is offering promotions of up to 200 euros on its most recent models. The distributors are going further with a V8 Origin at 269 euros (- 29%) at Darty and Boulanger or a V15 Fluffy at 599 euros, a reduction of 200 euros. Inspired by the design of the British brand, the Eureka Stylus Elite self-empties without its base. His promo? – 23% or a solid 230 euros.
Audio democratized
The arrival of a new generation of wireless headphones from Apple – the AirPods 4 with active noise reduction (199 euros) – leads to a slight drop in the price of previous generations. Always popular under the tree by teenagers, we find them at 99 euros for the 2nd generation at Carrefour or at Fnac.
The AirPods Pro 2 can be found at 219 instead of 279 euros almost everywhere. As an effective alternative, the Danish manufacturer Jabra is discontinuing consumer products and selling off its stocks: the Elite 10 model, efficient and comfortable, is 170 euros instead of 250 on the official website.
Among the most insulating wireless headphones on the market, Sony's WH-1000XM5 are tempting at 230 euros (- 70 euros) on Amazon or at Darty. Just like the competitors, the Momentum TW 4 from Sennheiser which fall below 200 euros on the official website. If you prefer headphones, the impeccable QC SC from Bose, the Sony WH-1000XM4 or the Momentum 4 from Sennheiser are available everywhere around 230 euros.
Finally, for smaller budgets, the elegant Nothing Ear (a) headphones drop to 69 euros on the official website or at Son et Vidéo. We can only recommend, in the same budget, the Pixel Buds A from Google or the Liberty 4 NC from Soundcore sold on Amazon.
Screens of all sizes
After the Euro football and the Paris Olympic Games, manufacturers find themselves with stocks of TVs whose prices are slashed at the end of the year. This is the case of the Samsung TQ55Q80D in 55-inch QLED, which can be found at Leclerc or Boulanger at 750 euros (- 40%) or 999 euros in the 65-inch version.
Equipped with immersive Ambilight technology, the Philips 65PUS8949 TV loses 400 euros, therefore 899 euros at Darty. For larger screens, LG's recent QNED87T (75 inches, or 189 cm) seduces at 1,099 euros instead of the usual 1,799 euros. Little tip: there will be additional discounts over the weekend while stocks last on large formats.
Why not save space? Tested and validated, the Aura 2 short-throw laser video projector from Xgimi transforms the living room into a cinema room with a 100-inch virtual canvas. More suitable for a bedroom, the MoGo 2 Pro from Xgimi can be found at 369 euros instead of 599 euros.
Also to keep an eye on, laptop PCs are in the midst of a revolution with artificial intelligence (AI), and there are therefore great promotions to be gleaned from all manufacturers wishing to make space in their catalogs. It's also difficult to ignore the offers on Apple MacBooks like the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air (8/256 GB) at 879 euros instead of 1,200 at Fnac and Boulanger.
Smartphones, tempting at this price
Think first about refurbished ones, especially high-end models like the iPhone and Samsung S24, boosted with AI. In the new sector, the 2022 iPhone 14s are the most present in stock and therefore the most discounted this year. Examples: the large 14 Plus (512 GB) goes from 1,249 to 799 euros at Fnac/Darty or the iPhone 14 (128 GB) from 679 euros at Leclerc or Darty.
Still at the high end, Honor's Magic 6 Pro drops to 799 euros instead of 1,300 on the Chinese manufacturer's website and in specialized stores. Sold at 599 euros, the Pixel 8 Pro ticks all the boxes to be a photo champion at the right price.
Appearing in 2019, folding smartphones are still having an effect. But their very high prices limit their mass adoption. This was without counting the Razr 50 from Motorola. At 899 euros last summer when it was released, its price dropped by 200 euros for Black Friday. At this price, this device of rare elegance, equipped with a large, very practical exterior screen, and a superb flexible panel, is a godsend. In a higher range, the essential Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 also sees its price drop: around 999 euros at certain resellers, compared to 1,200 at its launch.
Consoles for (big) children
She's on all Santa's lists. Nintendo's Switch console is a hit every year despite a price that has barely fallen since its initial release in 2017. We find it at Leclerc for 225 euros for the LCD model with blue and red controller. The white version with the beautiful OLED screen costs 312 euros in a pack with the Super Mario Bros game offered in particular at Auchan or Micromania. Rakuten sells it naked at 280 euros.
As for the PlayStation 5 (PS5), it benefits from a reduction of 75 euros almost everywhere. The more affordable model, the PS5 Slim, starts at 375 euros in supermarkets. Finally, the Xbox Series S awaits its players from 230 euros at Micromania, Carrefour or Electro Depot.
