Strasbourg expects millions of visitors

In Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), a 30-meter-high tree was installed for the Christmas market, which opened Wednesday, November 27 in the afternoon. The tourists are amazed. The city is preparing for the holiday and traders are finishing setting up in the Christmas market chalets. “We’re happy because we prepare this all year round,” explains Guillaume Petitjean, exhibitor. For the 300 exhibitors on the market, this meeting is essential.

In 2023, the Strasbourg Christmas market welcomed 3.3 million visitors in one month of opening, a record. The aisles were crowded, especially on weekends. To better manage flows, streets will be one-way. Tram stops and access points may be blocked in the event of heavy traffic, but no gauges will be put in place. This meeting is also the most important for hoteliers and restaurateurs.
