The ascension of Călin Georgescu “is not accidental”, believes sociologist Gelu Duminică, who comments in a short post on Facebook on the unexpected results of the first round of the presidential elections. Sunday states that “the jealousy towards the current political class is very high” and, “in the absence of 'politicians' who act like leaders (unifiers), people will look for 'saviors'”.
It should be noted that the official partial results provided so far place independent candidate Călin Georgescu in first place, ahead of PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu.
“It's not the people's fault, it's the leaders who mocked them. For far too many years, the “democratic parties” have moved away from the agenda of the ordinary citizen who has felt increasingly abandoned. The other day I drew attention to the strident speech that supporters used to put their candidates in the best image(s). I drew attention to the fact that this tone, doubled by the 2 lei image of the Romanian politician, does not help at all, in fact the opposite. And that alienates part of the electorate. I have been insulted and insulted even by those who consider themselves “defenders of democracy”. That I also have my justice, it can be seen in the current figures”, wrote Gelu Sunday, Sunday night, on his Facebook page.
“Mr. Georgescu's rise is not accidental: In the absence of “politicians” who act like leaders (unifiers), people will look for “saviors”. The anger towards the current political class is very high and this aggressive way of doing politics does not (anymore) help anyone. And not the “X is the only solution” moron, because people will find another. Which is not X”, explains the sociologist.
“There is a need for much more balance, generated by a deep understanding of the real and diverse Romania. And new people in politics. If we don't do this soon, things will look even worse. For us and for all those who follow us”, concludes Gelu Duminică.
