The snow arrived from Brittany this Thursday morning.
Many motorists were surprised because not all roads had been salted.

You have to be brave to hit the road this morning. In Mortain in Manche, ten centimeters of snow fell in places. It's only 9 a.m. and already, a first car accident and this is the twentieth intervention of the day for Raphaël: “Snow has been falling everywhere since six in the morning. Every five minutes, we have a call for a car in the ditch, an accident between two vehicles. Afterwards, there are cars that break down too.”
Right at the edge of this departmental road, it was Damien who had a scare on his way to work. “Road not cleared of snow yet the vehicle is equipped with snow tires, protected by trees on the straight line but once the trees pass, gusts in front and slips directly into the ditch”, says the motorist. The hassle of motorists in a good half of the country, even where it was not expected. In Tours, this truck found itself stuck on a motorway access ramp; motorists are worried about the day to come. “In my opinion, the first time you hit the handbrake, everyone sinks into it,” assures a young man at the wheel.
Snow continues to fall on several highways in the west, such as the A13 here near Fougères in Ile-et-Vilaine. One of our teams joined the A 84. The motorway was closed towards Caen, causing slowdowns which annoyed some. “Half an hour, we don’t know why, no information, nothing at all”a driver loses his temper in the TF1 8 p.m. video at the top of this article. Here, the heavyweights must move to the side and even in the middle of an interview, this gendarme remains focused on his mission. “It’s forbidden for trucks,” he informs.
Fortunately, truckers are used to these situations: “They always say that patience is a great virtue, so here we are, we’re going to be patient.” For almost two hours, it is in Île-de-France that the snow has been falling, the roads are still very clear. And everyone remains careful: “It’s the first snow of the year as well, so we’re all a little surprised, but people are very careful on the road.” ; “I'm equipped, I have tires designed for winter, so I have no worries, everything is fine, I'm driving a lot slower.” Snowfall is still expected throughout the afternoon, the Île-de-France prefecture has reduced the speed by 20 km/hour on all roads.
