When 35 years have passed since the 1989 floods, a new DANA is shaking the Iberian Peninsula with force. Just two weeks ago it was in the Valencian Community, and since last day the story has been repeated in other parts of the country.
Malaga, on red alert, is one of the cities where the storm is being most worrying this Wednesday. The rain does not stop and the dams of some swamps are having to open their floodgates. The AEMET forecast is that the rainfall will continue, so the warning has been extended until 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. In the areas of Sol and Guadalhorce, as well as in Axarquía, up to 200 liters per square meter could be recorded on Thursday, November 14.
Classes at the University of Malaga have been suspended, as well as all in-person activities planned for Thursday. Despite this, they have reported that the centers will remain open and that PDI and PTGAS workers must attend their jobs. Previously, they will evaluate the facilities. In addition, AVE services between the city and Córdoba have also been cancelled.
As reported by the Provincial Firefighters, up to 6:15 p.m. around 30 actions had been carried out due to DANA. Among them, the rescue of a father and his daughter who were inside their vehicle. They managed to get out on their own but had to be accompanied by the nomberos.
