In his first public statement since his dismissal by Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant revealed the three major disagreements that led to his ouster.
“I was informed of my dismissal a few minutes before 8:00 p.m. during a brief conversation with the Prime Minister,” Gallant said, emphasizing that his priority always remained “the State of Israel, the IDF and the defense system “.
Gallant identified three major points of friction with Netanyahu: the question of universal conscription, which he considers “fundamental for our existence”, the return of the hostages which he considers possible “subject to compromises, sometimes painful”, and the need for a national commission of inquiry into the events of October 7. The former minister also highlighted the recent successes of security forces, notably in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Lebanon and even Iran, while warning that “other challenges await us against Iran.” .
“I have never allowed and will never allow harm to the IDF and security organizations,” he concluded, calling on elected officials to “keep the moral course in these times of darkness.”
