A physical attack on a media representative costs basketball star Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers dearly. The NBA professional league has suspended the 30-year-old for three games. The penalty also costs Embiid a lot of money.
“Mutual respect is paramount to the relationship between players and media in the NBA,” Dumars said: “While we understand that Joel was offended by the personal nature of the reporter’s original version of the column, interactions must remain professional on both sides and never become physical.”
According to the league, Embiid pushed the journalist in the locker room after the game against the Memphis Grizzlies (107:124). He reported critically about the MVP from 2023. After the incident, the NBA began investigating the Paris Olympic champion.
The suspension will take effect as soon as Embiid, who is currently injured, is fit for action again. The 30-year-old will receive no salary for the three games he missed and will lose more than $1 million, according to ESPN.
