Three men died Friday morning after their vehicle hit a concrete block at a toll on the A13 motorway between Louviers and Gaillon, in Eure, announced the prefecture of the Normandy department.
“This morning, around 6:30 a.m., a vehicle traveling on the A13 motorway, in the province-Paris direction, crashed into a concrete block located at the entrance to the Heudebouville tollbooth,” indicated the prefecture. in a press release published on the social network
On the same social network, the Eure firefighters indicated that there were 24 firefighters mobilized at the scene of the tragedy. Despite their attempts at resuscitation, the three men died.
According to information from Paris-Normandie, the impact was particularly violent, suggesting that the car was arriving at high speed when it hit the concrete block. The firefighters had to carry out extrication operations for the two passengers placed in the front of the vehicle, reports BFM Normandie.
An investigation was opened to determine the causes of the accident; it was entrusted to the departmental road safety squadron of the national gendarmerie, under the authority of the Évreux public prosecutor's office, according to the Eure prefecture. Toxicological analyzes are also underway, specifies France 3 Normandie.
The emergency response required the neutralization of several toll lanes, causing some traffic jams and slowdowns, according to local media. By mid-morning, there was no longer “any impact on traffic on the A13 motorway”, assured the prefecture.
