In , 90 people demand the release of the founder of the NGO Sea Shepherd, Paul Watson

Saturday October 19, 2024, for the first time in (Finistère), a rally in support of Paul Watson was held, Place Saint-Corentin.

Nearly 90 people mobilized in favor of the release of the activist, founder of the NGO Sea Shepherd. An emblematic figure in the fight against whaling, he was arrested by Danish police on July 21, 2024, after an international arrest warrant issued by Japan. An arrest which took place on board his boat on John Paul Dejoriabefore his attempt to intercept the Kangei Maruthe brand new Japanese factory whaling ship, in the North Pacific.

Currently imprisoned in Greenland, he risks being extradited to Japan, where he faces up to 15 years in prison. Members of the local group, Sea Shepered Breizh read messages recalling the objectives of Paul Watson’s struggle, chanting his request for release to the lyrics of the group’s emblematic song Tryo: Watson on board, Ephemeral vigilante, Only crew, The future of the Earth.

In a letter addressed to the President of the Republic, Paul Watson requested political asylum in France.
