Liverpool takes the lead, first defeat for Barça, quadruple of Palmer (Chelsea)

Like every Monday, a look back at the main events in the four other major European championships.

PREMIER LEAGUE (6th day)

Held in check at Newcastle (1-1), Manchester City lets Liverpool (winner at Wolverhampton, 2-1) take the lead in the Premier League. Nothing is going well at the other Manchester club. United are humiliated on their lawn by Tottenham (3-0). The event of the weekend was Palmer’s quadruple with Chelsea (4-2 against Brighton). The Blues are fourth, two points behind Liverpool.

LIGA (8th day)

Without Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid thought they would win in the derby, but Atlético equalized at the end of stoppage time (1-1). Ancelotti’s men do not benefit from Barça’s first defeat in La Liga, at Osasuna (2-4), even if they grab a small point.
