Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen entered their AFC Championship Game showdown with a 4-4 head-to-head record.
Unfortunately for the Buffalo Bills, Mahomes was a perfect 3-0 when it mattered.

The 29-year-old won his fourth straight postseason game against his old foe – an NFL record – to reach his fifth Super Bowl.
It means his dream of lifting a third successive Vince Lombardi Trophy – a feat even Tom Brady couldn’t achieve – is alive.
The Bills led early in the second quarter after a costly Mahomes fumble – Kansas City’s first turnover since their Week 11 loss in Buffalo.
But the Chiefs took a 21-16 advantage into halftime as their superstar QB took command of the game.
Allen snatched back the lead but Mahomes ran in his second touchdown of the day – the first time he has ever scored two on the ground in a single postseason clash.
In a game fitting two of the NFL’s best-run franchises, the Bills scored on a clutch fourth-down play to tie the game with just over six minutes left on the clock.
A field goal gave the hosts a slender lead at Arrowhead and after the two-minute warning, their famous defense produced a crucial fourth-down stop as defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo drew up a perfect blitz and Dalton Kincaid dropped a hurried pass.
It was a familiar sight for NFL fans as the Chiefs turned up at crucial moments to seal victory.
Many are bored of seeing Andy Reid’s team in the biggest game but nobody seems to be able to do anything about Big Red and Mahomes’ lethal combination.
What was unusual was Travis Kelce’s muted display in front of girlfriend Taylor Swift, who was, of course, regularly shown in the stands.
He managed just two catches for 19 yards.
But Kelce didn’t seem too concerned as he serenaded fans with KC and The Sunshine Band hit ‘Do a Little Dance.’
Rookie Xavier Worthy caught Mahomes’ eye early as he ran the fastest time ever at the Combine.
The Bills traded down to allow the Chiefs to draft the speedy wideout and watched him go for 85 yards and a score against them.
“First off, I want to give all glory to God,” Mahoems told CBS Sports. “Without Him none of this is possible and I truly mean that.
“I’m just so proud of my teammates and how they responded. That is a hell of a football team.
“I’m just lost for words, I’m excited for New Orleans.””I’m just lost for words, I’m excited for New Orleans.
Earlier on Sunday, Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley each scored hat-tricks on the ground as the Philadelphia Eagles demolished the Washington Commanders.
A 55-23 victory that featured seven rushing touchdowns, including Barkley’s third 60-plus-yard score of the postseason, highlights a formidable offense.
Hurts ended a run stretching back to 1998 which saw 18 of the last QBs to lose on their first Super Bowl appearance fail to make it back to the biggest stage.
