Herminia, who was on Saturday evening in the south of Ireland, will mainly affect the western facade of the country, notably Brittany and the South West. Côtes-d'Armor, Finistère, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées will be placed in orange “wind” alert in the morning. Northwestern Spain will also be subject to strong winds.
In Brittany, the Meteorological Institute expects possible gusts in the morning “of the order of 130 km/h on the coasts and neighbors of 100 km/h in the interior “ in Finistère and Côtes-d'Armor. “On the Breton tip, saturated floors constitute an aggravating factor”continues the alert form which specifies that the “Precipitation occurs again in regions already impacted in recent times”.
In the Pyrenees, the wind can “reach mid-day temperate gusts from 110 to 120 km/h in the middle mountain (at the ski resorts) as well as locally in valleys (…) These gusts can exceed 150 km/h on certain ridges or exposed passes “specifies Météo-France.
The wind will then strengthen in the evening. The storm will also touch the center-east of France. Météo-France is expecting new strong winds on the Pyrenees on the night of Sunday to Monday, according to its bulletin for forecasting dangerous phenomena. The institute does not exclude either “Strong precipitation from the northern Alpes-Maritimes in Hautes-Alpes ” Monday and call for surveillance “Strong waves on the Breton tip despite the coefficients of low tide”.
