Australian Open > Alexander Zverev: “Djokovic said that? It means a lot to me, especially from Novak”

“I wish you to win the title because you deserve it my friend”wrote Novak Djokovic to Alexander Zverev after his retirement against him in the semi‐finals of the Australian Open this Friday.

Strong support for the German who was questioned about this statement at a post-match press conference. Excerpts.

Q. Novak said he absolutely wants you to win on Sunday, and he's not the only one who said he's going to cheer for you and wants you to win your first Grand Slam tournament. It's a very individual sport. What does the support of other tennis players mean to you?
Alexander Zverev : It means a lot to me, especially from Novak, I think, who I admire and respect enormously. Yes, like I said, I'm looking forward to Sunday. I feel like I've done the necessary work and I feel ready. So we'll see how it goes. I am very grateful to Novak for wishing me this. Yeah, we'll see what happens this weekend.
