Invited to speak about the whistles from part of the Australian public against Novak Djokovic, forced to retire during his semi‐final against Alexander Zverev this Friday, Justine Henin expressed her disappointment and even of a certain form of indignation on the set ofEurosport.
“Novak Djokovic has experienced everything in Australia: his greatest successes like a very complicated detention a few years ago. He had the strength to come back and we saw when he regained the emotion that it represented. Today was not a good moment, far from it. We cannot accept that a player who has given and who gives so much to our sport should suffer this. We understand that people want to see a fight, but at some point, we also have to add nuance. We can no longer break away from the moment. We recalled the few retirements he had in Grand Slams, he is 37 years old. I find that this is not at all related to the champion that he is and he is right to react. He is one of those players who, fortunately, does not keep quiet about certain behaviors. »
