Luxury group Kering continues its commitment to sustainability with the launch of the Kering Generation Award X Jewelry. This ground-breaking award aims to promote creative re-use in the jewelry industry.
An initiative to transform practices
After creating a prize dedicated to sustainable innovation in fashion and beauty, Kering is extending its ambitions to the jewelry sector. The prize is aimed at universities and start-ups alike, under the evocative theme: “Second chance, first choice”. The aim? To reward projects that use recycled materials to create innovative jewelry.
In collaboration with the Confédération Internationale de la Bijouterie and Poli.Design – Politecnico di Milano, this award aims to reveal creations that combine design excellence and sustainable practices. The finalists, selected in the “Student” and “Start-up” categories, will have the opportunity to present their projects at the prestigious JCK trade show in Las Vegas.
A tradition of recycling at Kering
This is not Kering’s first attempt. Already in 2022, Boucheron, one of its Maisons, made its mark with a collection made from Cofalit, a material derived from industrial waste. A move that perfectly illustrates the group’s desire to merge craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.
According to Marie-Claire Daveu, Director of Sustainable Development at Kering, this initiative reflects the need to redefine jewelry industry practices. She says the competition aims to stimulate innovative solutions that combine craftsmanship and technology, in response to pressing environmental challenges.
