A bus driver from the transport network RTM (Régie des transports métropolitains) was the victim of a violent attack this Thursday, Le Parisien learned, confirming information from Ici (formerly Bleu).

The altercation took place in the early evening, around 7 p.m., while the alleged attacker was smoking a cigarette inside the bus. “The driver (…) asked him kindly several times to put out his cigarette. The person then rushed at him at the driving position with a sharp object and hit him several times in the head,” explained Nicolas Ruiz, general secretary of the Force Ouvrière union within the RTM. .

According to a source close to the case, the man lost consciousness and was transported to Timone hospital for examinations. However, his vital prognosis is not in jeopardy.

“The Samu intervened very quickly to rescue the driver who was suffering from severe head trauma,” said Catherine Pila, president of the RTM, in a publication on social networks. The latter also denounces an “unacceptable and intolerable” act.

According to Here, a complaint was filed by the transport network. “Let us hope that the video surveillance cameras will allow the attacker to be arrested very quickly,” declared Catherine Pilat. For their part, RTM employees exercised their right of withdrawal, which caused the interruption of service for the rest of the evening.
