January 26, 2025 is the traffic block in Rome for the implementation of the third of the five ecological Sundays planned for the 2024 – 2025 winter season. The initiative, as is known, includes throughout the entire Green Band of the Capital the total ban on circulation for private traffic during the times activation of the block. However, numerous are contemplated exceptions.
TRAFFIC BLOCK ROME 26 JANUARY 2025 IN THE GREEN BAND
Il traffic block in Rome on 26 January 2025 concerns circulation in the so-called Green Belt, i.e. the limited traffic area which includes a large part of the municipal territory within the Grande Raccordo Anulare.
For the benefit of residents and especially visitors, in order to avoid unpleasant fines, the Municipality of Rome has made available a navigable virtual mapreachable at this link, which allows you to find out if you are there inside or outside the Green Belt. CAR BLOCK ROME 26 JANUARY 2025: TIMES OF THE DRIVING BAN
On the occasion of ecological Sunday in Rome of 26 January 2025, the total ban on circulation in the Green Belt for private traffic (with exceptions, see next paragraph) is expected at the following times:
- from 7.30am to 12.30pm
- from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.
After the one on January 26th, the next eco-friendly Sundays in Rome they will be held on 16 February 2025 and 23 March 2025.
-ECOLOGICAL SUNDAY ROME 26 JANUARY 2025: DEROGATIONS TO THE DRIVING BAN
The exceptions to the traffic ban on Sunday 26 January 2025 are listed in a special order of the Mayor of Rome (download here). In total there are 34 exemptions, here are the main ones:
- electric or hybrid vehicles;
- vehicles fueled by methane, LPG or Bi-Fuel petrol-LPG or petrol-methane, whether or not converted, running on LPG or methane and from Euro 3 and above;
- vehicles with Euro 6 petrol engines;
- 2-wheel mopeds with 4-stroke Euro 2 and later engines;
- 4-stroke Euro 3 and later motorcycles;
- vehicles for public and private collective transport;
- taxis and NCCs equipped with municipal concessions;
- vehicles used for car sharing, car pooling and Home-Work Travel Plan services;
- car minute of the permit for people with disabilities:
- vehicles used for the transport of people undergoing essential therapies or health treatments for serious illnesses.
26 JANUARY 2025: THE PATH TO THE JUBILEE IN ROME
Il January 26, 2025the day of the third ecological Sunday of the season, the Capitoline Department of the Environment organized the event ‘The paths to Rome‘ which will see the participation of hundreds of walkers along the three main Jubilee itineraries.
Three separate appointments are planned to cover the last stages: della Northern Francigenadeparting from Monte Mario station at 8:30; from the Southern Francigenawith an appointment at 8.30am at the Santa Maria delle Mole information point or in front of the Campoleone train station at 9.00am (there will then be a bus transfer to Via di Torricola, where the walk starts from); of path of Saint Francisdeparting from Piazza Sempione at 8:30. All participants will converge at 3:00 pm at the Auditorium in via della Conciliazione and then cross the Holy Door together in St. Peter’s Square at 4:00 pm. Please note that the available places are already sold out for all three routes.
