A depression is taking shape this Wednesday off the east coast of the United States. Gradually, it will move towards Europe. The weather forecasts also indicate gusts worthy of a hurricane (without being one). What to expect for France?

Slightly disturbed

Initially, we will experience slightly unsettled weather with periods of generally light to moderate rain. We will monitor the accumulations of rain which, locally, could bring a risk of flooding or even flooding.

These weather conditions will be accompanied by milder air, at least less cold than in recent days. The 10°C mark should even be reached in the northern half (sometimes a little over 10°C).

However, high pressure will not be there, which will favor numerous cloudy periods, sometimes stubborn, from morning to evening. Sunday could nevertheless prove to be the sunniest day.

Before a strong storm arrives?

Well the much-anticipated storm will mainly affect the British Isles. During its journey through the ocean, it will strengthen to have a strong pressure difference over relatively small distances (the isobars are tight).

This will result in a significant increase in wind gusts between Ireland and England. Wind gusts greater than 120-130km/h could be observed inland. Near the coast, the 150km/h mark risks being exceeded.

On the French side, bad weather linked to this same depression will be there. However, their intensity will be less although quite strong towards the north-west quarter, even more towards the coasts.

Wind gusts of 90 or even 100km/h are possible along the coasts as well as rainy periods. Further inland, we should observe a strengthening of the winds, particularly between Friday and Saturday: the expected values are of the order of 60 to 70 km/h.

A second depression to watch out for

Until the very end of the weekend or even the beginning of next week, weather conditions will remain choppy over Western Europe. A new depression coming from the Atlantic Ocean will appear.

It will mainly impact the British Isles but in France, a gale could be observed. To this day, we still remain cautious about the forecasts. However, the latest atmospheric simulations opt for gusty winds of 60 to 80km/h. could be exposed to much stronger winds, including inland.

A weather situation to monitor throughout the coming days. So stay tuned to Tameteo.com!
