Arrest after violent act in Aschaffenburg
A suspect was arrested near the crime scene. Officials are now not assuming there are any other perpetrators. In the case of a second person who was initially arrested, suspicion could be ruled out.
According to police, the fatal attack occurred around 11:45 a.m. in Schöntal Park. A large area of the crime scene was cordoned off, which also affected local rail traffic. According to the railway, trains to and from Aschaffenburg are currently being held back.
There is no danger to the population, said a police spokesman. The motive for the violent act is still unclear. More detailed information about the alleged perpetrator and the victims was initially not available.
Police classified Park Schöntal as dangerous
The park is close to the city center. The police are there from time to time with foot patrols, as the spokesman said. This is probably why the suspect could have been caught quickly. Whether witnesses helped the crime is currently being clarified.
