Two people aged 58 and 26 died Tuesday afternoon after their microlight crashed into a chalet in Méribel-les-Allues in Savoie.

The accident, which occurred around 5 p.m., involved, in addition to the aircraft, a two-seater paraglider. According to the first testimonies, collected by The Dauphiné liberateda collision with two tandem paragliders could have occurred just before. The two paragliders are shocked, but “out of danger”, according to the Albertville public prosecutor, Benoît Bachelet, interviewed by the regional daily. The ULM crashed “at roof level” of the house, according to the prefecture.

A chalet unoccupied at the time of the accident

Aged 58 and 26, the two occupants of the ULM were killed instantly. The two paragliders emerged “unharmed” from the accident, the “precise circumstances” of which remain to be determined “as part of the judicial investigation”, added the prefecture.

The chalet on which the ULM crashed was “unoccupied” at the time of the accident, indicated for their part the firefighters, who “extricated” the victims of the wreck after a “delicate progression due to the fragility of the structure” after the accident.
