The close victory at Red Star Belgrade is of course also good news for PSV from a financial point of view. The people of Eindhoven receive a premium of 2.1 million euros.
With the victory, PSV has exceeded the 40 million euro mark even further than it had already done, see the table below. Next week the counter will really increase significantly.
Depending on the place in the final standings of the competition phase, UEFA pays out a bonus, with the maximum being 9.9 million euros, for the number one. After that, the amount per position decreases by 275,000 euros. Apart from this, a place in the top eight provides a premium of two million euros and a place between positions nine and sixteen is good for one million euros.
That’s not the end of cashing, provided you really get far. One million euros, eleven million euros, 12.5 million euros, fifteen million euros and 18.5 million euros are required to reach the intermediate round, eighth-final, quarter-final, semi-final and final respectively. The winner will receive an additional 6.5 million euros.
At competition level, no more prizes are awarded from the intermediate round onwards, as is done in the competition phase.
-* Including the minimum prize money, for number 36 in the table
