Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu and Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır made inspections after the fire broke out in the hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya.

Making a statement after the investigations, Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya said that the number of those who lost their lives increased to 66 and the number of injured increased to 51.

“A judicial investigation has been launched”

Yerlikaya said, “Dear friends, we are in great pain as a nation. Unfortunately, we lost 66 lives and 51 injured in the fire that occurred. Since the back of the hotel is a slope, the intervention was carried out from the front and side facades. A judicial investigation has been launched.”

“The treatment of the injured continues”

Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, who made a statement about the condition of the injured after Minister Yerlikaya, said, “We have 51 injured in the fire in which 66 of our citizens lost their lives, one of them is in serious condition. The treatment of the others continues and their condition is good. We have discharged 17 of our injured people. We are saddened, our condolences.” he said.

“There are 2 fire escapes in the hotel in Kartalkaya”

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said, “Type and classification inspections of the hotel were carried out in 2021 and 2024, and during these inspections, business opening operating licenses and fire qualification licenses were requested. The hotel has a fire qualification certificate issued by the fire brigade. To date, negative feedback has been reported to us by the fire brigade.” There are two fire escapes.

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan said, “We are here as the Ministry in terms of occupational health and safety. We have assigned 4 chief inspectors. My condolences to our dear nation.”
