The Italian ski women’s winning streak was broken at, of all places, Kronplatz: While Federica Brignone became a tragic heroine, a New Zealander celebrated her first victory in almost four years.

Federica Brignone had a great chance to further expand her lead in the overall World Cup on Tuesday on the Erta slope. But the 34-year-old was eliminated in the upper part of the final after her half-time lead. This is exactly where many runners had previously had problems. Sara Hector also fell here.
Meanwhile, the victory went to Alice Robinson. The fifth-place finisher showed a brilliant run in the final and distanced second-placed Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami by over half a second. The Swiss is still waiting for her first win of the season.

For Robinson it was the first World Cup victory since March 2021 and the fourth overall. The 23-year-old New Zealander was visibly relieved at the finish after this dry spell. The American Paula Moltzan came third. The young Italian Lara Colturi, who competes for Albania, showed again with her fourth place.
Not an azure day
A total of four Azzurre took part in the second race on Tuesday. In the end, Lara Della Mea finished best in 11th place. The only South Tyrolean, Elisa Platino, missed the final by a hundredth of a second. Marta Bassino was unavailable due to illness and Sofia Goggia dropped out of the first run. The women’s ski world cup will continue in the coming days with a speed weekend in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
