Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Dangerously cold temperatures are here for the next two days, but by Wednesday, we will be pushing past the freezing mark.
While some slight relief (emphasis on slight) in wind chills are expected this afternoon, a reinforcing surge of Arctic air will drop air temperatures below zero again over much of central Illinois. This will result in wind chills of 10-20 below zero by early Tuesday, and they will remain below zero throughout the day. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur quickly in such conditions. Stay indoors as much as possible.
A weak disturbance may bring a dusting of snow near and north of I-74 tonight, with another system Wednesday night also bringing small chances of light snow.
-If you are in need of warming accommodations, call the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 217-342-2101. Arrangements will be made if needed.
