Meghan Markle accused of being a ‘terrible’ boss by former staff; Royal experts claim Sussexes have suffered a ‘devastating’ blow

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, finds herself at the center of fresh allegations of bullying, with former staff members describing her as a ‘Mean Girls’ type in a recent Vanity Fair exposé. The claims paint a troubling picture of the working environment under Meghan and Prince Harry, with accusations of emotional distress, undermining behaviour, and strained professional relationships

Allegations of bullying against Meghan
According to a report by Vanity Fair, some former staff members have spoken out with serious accusations of their work with Meghan Markle. One person who worked with her on the Spotify podcast ‘Archetypes’ described the working environment as “really, really, really awful” and “very painful.” At first, Meghan was warm and supportive, but when things didn’t go as planned often because of her own expectations– she became cold and distant to those she blamed for the failures. One said, “Because she’s always playing checkers I’m not even going to say chess but she’s just very aware of where everybody is on her board. And when you are not in, you are to be thrown to the wolves at any given moment.”

Another former staff member echoed these sentiments, describing Meghan’s management style as undermining and emotionally distressing. They likened her behaviour to that of a ‘Mean Girls’ teenager, stating, “Oh, any given Tuesday this happened,” about the alleged bullying incidents. This source also highlighted that one colleague took a leave of absence after only three episodes of the podcast and ultimately quit due to the pressure.
While many accounts paint a negative picture of Meghan’s leadership style, not all former colleagues share this view. Jane Marie, a producer working on projects that involved the two, said about Meghan, “She’s just a lovely, genuine person.”
However, these allegations are not new. A previous report by The Hollywood Reporter has labelled Meghan as a “dictator in high heels,” suggesting she has reduced staff members to tears and belittled them. A book published in 2022 also claimed that former employees formed a ‘Sussex Survivors Club’ in response to her behaviour.

A big blow for Harry and Meghan
The recent revelations have raised concerns about the impact on Prince Harry and Meghan’s reputation. As per GB News, Royal expert Tom Bower stated that these allegations have “poisoned the smiling image of the welcoming home-maker” that Meghan has tried to cultivate. He described the situation as a “disaster” for her public image, particularly after she had denied similar accusations while at Kensington Palace.

As they prepare to launch new projects including Meghan’s upcoming lifestyle and cookery show titled ‘With Love, Meghan,’ which was postponed due to wildfires in Los Angeles these claims could significantly tarnish their reputation in both the UK and the US. Richard Fitzwilliams noted that Harry is portrayed as “lost, out of his depth, and naive,” suggesting that neither he nor Meghan fully understand what it takes to succeed in show business.
In light of these allegations, it appears that Meghan Markle’s attempts to rebrand herself as a caring mother and wife may be overshadowed by these troubling accusations. The couple’s future projects could face challenges as public perception shifts amidst ongoing scrutiny.
