- Feel-like temperatures between -5 to -20F

Current Alerts
An Extreme Cold Warning and a Cold Weather Advisory are in place in most hometowns. Dangerously cold wind chills are expected through Monday morning.
Dangerously Cold This Morning
A few flurries are possible early, but the bigger headline is the extreme cold building in. Feel-like temperatures this morning are between -5 to -20F for some hometowns. We’ll keep these dangerous conditions through Wednesday.
Rapid Freeze Into This Week
The cold air this week will rival those temperatures experienced nearly a decade ago. High temperatures will run 20-30 degrees below normal!
Equally as significant will be the duration of the cold, which will span several days starting today.
- Overnight lows could dip below zero in some hometowns, especially over the higher terrain, where there is a deeper snowpack.
- We won’t get above freezing until Thursday afternoon
Frozen water pipes commonly occur when temperatures dip below <20° for long periods. Pipes may start freezing as soon as 6 hours into cold temperatures. Look out for icy patches on exposed pipes, weak or no water flow coming from faucet, and water leaking around the pipe.
-This Week’s Storm Chance
Weather models continue to signal a storm during the Jan 22-24 time frame over the Southeast/Mid Atlantic/Northeast. Most models show this system staying well to our south and east. There is a bigger potential for snow toward the coastline.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely in the coming days.
