In its minutes this Sunday, the Real Madrid Electoral Board proclaimed Florentino Pérez as president of the white club until 2029, re-elected once again without opposition, as in 2021, after a process that lasted just over a week. According to the official statement on the club’s website, the Board met this Sunday afternoon and, since only one candidacy had been presented and according to the status of the club, it proclaimed Florentino Pérez Rodríguez “president of Real Madrid” in a seventh mandate.
The current top leader of Madrid will continue as president until 2029. Again, as in 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2021, the elections for the presidency of the Madrid team were not necessary as there was only one candidate. Florentino had requested the start of the electoral process on January 7 and, last Friday, the Board validated his candidacy while waiting to be re-elected. Two days later, Florentino Pérez was reaffirmed in his position for another four years.
The president, 77 years old, presided over the white club from 2000 to 2006, the year in which he resigned and retired from football, before returning in 2009. Since that year 2000, Florentino has won 65 titles as head of the white club: 37 in football (7 European Cups, 7 Club World Cups, 6 European Super Cups, 7 Leagues, 3 Copas del Rey and 7 Spanish Super Cups) and 28 basketball (3 European Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 8 Leagues, 7 Copas del Rey and 9 Spanish Super Cups).
