Coco Gauff of the United States will vie for a ticket to the quarterfinal round against Belinda Bencic of Switzerland on Sunday at the 2025 Australian Open. Bencic completed the comeback by winning the first set tiebreaker, which prompted a visibly disappointed Osaka to withdraw from the match. Osaka had also withdrawn from her match with Carla Tauson of Denmark in the final of the 2025 ASB Classic. On the other hand, Bencic matched her career high at the Australian Open by reaching the round of 16 for the third time.
