Bayer Leverkusen is threatened with a long absence from Martin Terrier. The offensive player will be examined more closely on Sunday after he was substituted in the 3-1 (1-0) win against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening. Teammate Granit Xhaka indicated that there was a suspicion of an Achilles tendon rupture.
“I really hope it’s not what we suspect and what he sensed too. That would be a slap in the face for the club and us players. “You’re out for a bit longer,” said Xhaka. Xabi Alonso also has little hope of getting the all-clear. “It doesn’t look good,” said the coach.
Terrier was substituted after just eight minutes against Gladbach after getting stuck in the grass. The double winner would still have until February 3rd to find a replacement for the 27-year-old on the transfer market if the serious injury is confirmed. That would mean Terrier would be out for months.
