TikTok disappeared in the United States on Saturday, before the federal ban on the Chinese short-video app took effect, cutting off access to the platform that has captivated nearly half of Americans, fueled small businesses and shaped online culture.
“A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the United States. Unfortunately, this means you cannot use TikTok at this time. We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office, stay tuned,” a message on the app reads.
