Alavés has left the relegation zone thanks to a victory at Betis (1-3) built on the formidable performance of Kike García, who forced and converted the penalty with which his team took the lead in the first half and scored the two goals that decided the result in the second.
The recital by the veteran forward from La Mancha began when barely ten minutes had elapsed, when he surpassed Marc Barta in the race after a ‘self-pass’ and he reacted before the defender in the fall of both, when he gained the position and forced the trip of the rival who committed a penalty. The attacker himself finally beat Adrián with a low execution.
Hernández Hernández gave Bartra a second penalty on Kike García, but he backed out after consulting the VAR in an action that preluded the best minutes of the locals, who laid siege to the babazorra goal until Jesús Rodríguez, with a shot from the edge of the area that deflected a defender, equalized the contest.
Before a quarter of an hour had passed in the second half, the decisive action of the match arrived, a foul by Perraud when Carlos Vicente was heading into the Betic area on a clear occasion of a goal that led to the expulsion of the French full-back and the subsequent step backwards for his team, weighed down until the end by numerical inferiority.
Despite everything, The clearest chance of the second period – until Kike García’s final recital – was for Isco, who intercepted a bad pass to his goalkeeper from Abqar, but a very quick Owono at the start correctly read the Malaga player’s cut and neatly took the ball from him.
-In the final ten minutes The Alava victory was decided with two high-school shots by Kike Garcíathe first with a left-footed shot after Carlos Vicente’s persistence in the area and the second with a fantastic plank to head the magnificent center from the right of the skilled winger himself, Alavés’ most striking player in the second half.
The defeat of Betis, which has only won in one of its last nine league appearances, inflamed the spirits of the green and white fans, who broke out in chants against the players and the board of directors as soon as the meeting ended.
