- Freestyle boarder Jonas Hasler jumps to 5th place at the Slopestyle World Cup in Laax.
- For the 18-year-old from Thurgau, it is the best World Cup result of his career.
- Cameron Spalding (CAN) and Mia Brookes (GBR) secured the day’s victories.
Jonas Hasler laid the foundation for his top result with a successful first final run, which was awarded 79.52 points. The 18-year-old qualifying winner was able to take risks freely in the second round. This paid off: Hasler improved again with 82.20 points.
But it was just not enough for the podium: the fifth-placed Thurgauer was ultimately 1.52 points short. Nevertheless, Hasler can be satisfied with his performance. It is his best World Cup result to date. In Silvaplana last year he jumped to 6th place.
Hasler was the only Swiss Ski representative to qualify for the finals. Alex Lotorto was eliminated in the semi-finals in 21st place. In the women’s category, Andrina Salis (12th) and Ariane Burri (13th) failed to qualify on Thursday.

Brookes gives himself a gift
Among the women, an almost local woman prevailed. The British Mia Brookes, who lives in Laax in winter and is celebrating her 18th birthday on Sunday, achieved a score of 84.86 points in the first run that none of the seven competitors could come close to. Ranks 2 and 3 went to Zoi Sadowski Synnott (NZL) and Kokomo Murase (JPN).
