A violent fire broke out this Saturday morning around 6 a.m. in a two-story building located in the city center of Bordeaux, just behind the City Hall, the department's firefighters told Le Parisien, confirming information from Here Gironde. Up to sixty firefighters were mobilized to this disaster.
Thirty people had to leave the building, twelve of whom had to be evacuated using a ladder. Two people, aged 20 and 21 according to Ici Gironde, were slightly injured due to the smoke and taken to Bordeaux University Hospital. There were no serious injuries. Around 10:30 a.m., the intervention, which was “at the end” since the fire had been “contained”, focused on checking the condition of the building. This aims to ensure that “its structure is not weakened”.
Rue Montbazon, where the disaster occurred, is blocked to facilitate the work of emergency services. An investigation was opened to identify the origin of the fire, which remains unknown. According to Sud Ouest, however, the fire broke out in the common areas of the building.
