The weather in North Rhine-Westphalia suddenly messes everything up on Friday (January 17th). Due to extreme fog, Dortmund Airport was completely shut down from midday. A spokeswoman confirmed this when asked by DER WESTEN.
Due to the extreme weather conditions, landings were no longer possible from midday onwards. Incoming planes were redirected to other airports in North Rhine-Westphalia, such as Paderborn, Münster or Cologne. Flights from Dortmund Airport had to be canceled at short notice. The outlook for the rest of the day gave those responsible little hope of improvement.

By the afternoon, 12 flights had been diverted or canceled due to the weather conditions in North Rhine-Westphalia, the airport spokeswoman told DER WESTEN.
