While the subject of pension reform has come back to the table in recent days, the question of the quality of work is also entering the debates. The arduousness of the work, the stress it can induce or even the economic difficulties linked to wages are all elements which can harm the well-being of workers.

Interviewed by info On January 15, 2025, Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, Minister of Labor and Employment, announced that she wanted to launch a conference in March with social partners and researchers on occupational health.

This announcement echoes the general policy declaration of François Bayrou. Indeed, the latter affirmed on January 14, 2025 its desire to set up consultation on work and wages, “which would focus on the quality of life at work, its remuneration and its meaning“.

Getting out of the debate on absenteeism

According to the minister, this conference will be an opportunity to “get out of the debate on waiting days, absenteeism“and to wonder about”working conditions, occupational health, medicine, prevention, work organizations, managerial practices” and their impact on well-being at work.

Physical health issues, particularly on keeping seniors active, or even mental health, linked among other things to the intensification of rhythms, will be at the forefront of discussions, Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet told our colleagues at France info .

She wishes, through this system, to be able to “objectify things“. A comparison with the German model was also mentioned.
