After a long time, the official news finally came out on Friday. Domenico Tedesco was fired as national coach of the Red Devils. Franky Van der Elst and Marc Wilmots are not happy with how the KBVB has dealt with Tedesco.
According to Van der Elst, Tedesco’s dismissal took too long. “But Tedesco, well, it’s about time, right? Everyone already knew that he was outside, but it wasn’t official yet. You also have to remain serious,” said Van der Elst at Het Belang van Limburg.
Former national coach Marc Wilmots is also not happy with the KBVB’s actions. “I also found that humiliating and belittling. Regardless of performance, you should still conclude this in a respectful manner. It took too long.”
When Tedesco was still under contract, the KBVB was already in discussions with Conceição. “It is painful to read that Conceição almost signed, while you are being ignored. In a sense, this is good news for him. Now Tedesco can also move on. He just has to get his money,” said Wilmots.
