Franjo von Allmen is one of Swiss Ski’s many high-flyers this season. In the descents of Bormio and Val Gardena, the 23-year-old speed crack took second place twice. Now the home race on the Lauberhorn is on the program for the Bernese Oberlander. “The anticipation was very great and I’m very happy,” says the ski racer to 20 Minutes.
“I only have an hour’s drive, which you don’t have often in the World Cup,” said the often-laughing Swiss Ski athlete. Many family members and friends would be there and support him, he says. But he doesn’t want to put pressure on himself. Not even because of the good results of the past few weeks.
“From the outside, the expectations are rising faster than those I have of myself. I always try to be aware that I’m happy with a result in the top 10,” explains von Allmen in an interview. He has to develop step by step.
-At 23, von Allmen is very young for a speed rider. Many statistics show that you only reach the “prime of descent” as you get older. But why is things going so well for him? Von Allmen does not have an exact recipe. “There are many factors that work together and determine success. “I’m trying to just keep driving like this and hope that things will get even better,” said von Allmen.
By the way: In the “Podcast at the edge of the slopes” by SRF experts Tina Weirather and Marc Berthod, von Allmen and a possible Onlyfans account were recently discussed. But what’s behind it? 20 minutes asked the Ski-Juwel. It was a fun idea, but it’s on hold, he explains. He adds with a smile: “Not all sports sectors would enjoy it. You don’t have to drive people crazy. It was more of a crazy idea. I certainly wouldn’t be against it. It would be fun and would suit me.”
