Real Madrid had to suffer more than expected to secure their qualification to the next round of the King’s Cup. Carlo Ancelotti’s men managed to take a two-goal lead thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Jr.
However, they saw how Celta de Vigo managed to force extra time within minutes at the Santiago Bernabéu. Jonathan Bamba narrowed the gap in the 83rd minute, and Marcos Alonso, from the penalty spot, equalized in the 91st minute.
Extra time wasn’t easy for the Madridists either, as it wasn’t until the second half of extra time that they found the goal. Endrick, who experienced a few minutes of true inspiration, scored a stunning goal on the turn to make it 3-2 in favor of Real Madrid. However, it wouldn’t be the last, as he later also managed to score the fifth goal with an elegant backheel.

Jota Jordi, quite upset after Real Madrid’s qualification
For his part, Jota Jordi didn’t seem entirely satisfied with Real Madrid’s victory. Perhaps, the panelist got carried away by the emotion of imagining that the merengue club could be eliminated from the Copa. However, that possibility didn’t materialize.
“They should already be eliminated. While they’re talking about Negreira, they keep rigging competitions,” commented Jota Jordi in a tweet.
-“2 years and still no evidence proving anything. However, the whole world sees the help they get every match,” the culé communicator added.
Despite Jota Jordi’s constant protests on social media, Real Madrid will be in Monday’s draw. The merengue team is already waiting for their next opponent, which will definitely be from the First Division.
When is the Copa del Rey draw?
The draw for the quarterfinals of the King’s Cup will be next Monday starting at 1:00 PM.
The teams drawn first will be the hosts in the knockout round, which will be played as a single match. Real Madrid, which could face a Madrid classic or another Clásico, has the possibility of playing either at Santiago Bernabéu or outside Madrid.
