The seasonal flu wave has been rolling across Switzerland since December – and the peak does not seem to have been reached yet, as figures from the BAG (Federal Office of Public Health) show.
Last week, 23.46 flu cases per 100,000 people were reported to the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG). Western Switzerland, Valais and Ticino are particularly affected.
The highest numbers were reported in the canton of Jura. There were 55 flu cases per 100,000 people here. The canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden reports the lowest numbers. 7.08 illnesses per 100,000 people were reported here.
Children between the ages of zero and four are most affected. There is also a high number of illnesses in the 65+ age group. People between the ages of 15 and 64 are least affected.
The Covid-19 wave, on the other hand, is subsiding according to the BAG. The most frequently detected SARS-CoV-2 variant in wastewater is XEC.
