Club Brugge is in the last four in the Belgian Cup. In the national competition they are in second place, one point behind Racing Genk. Blauw-zwart also has a chance of a place in the next round of the Champions League. Hans Vanaken remains important in that story.
“The most consistent player of the past ten years,” says Wim De Coninck to Sporza. “I am still impressed how he always finds simple solutions. Vanaken always thinks three steps ahead.”

Hans Vanaken has 7 goals and 10 assists in 31 games this season. That brings his total at Club Brugge to no less than 134 goals and 101 assists in 480 matches.
The 32-year-old attacking midfielder does not complain when it comes to the busy calendar. “I’d rather have a lot of matches than a lot of training,” Vanaken commented. With 2,746 playing minutes he is at the top of Club Brugge. Brandon Mechele (2,700) and Simon Mignolet (2,520) follow. Christos Tzolis is the first not in his thirties with 2,280 minutes.
